The Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO–RALG), through the Teacher Professional Development Improvement Project known as the Global Partnership for Education – Teacher Support Programme (GPE–TSP), is implementing various interventions, including coordinating the engagement of volunteer teachers.

Through this project, PMO–RALG announces 1,500 volunteer teaching positions for secondary school teachers in schools under Local Government Authorities with the greatest need, in accordance with the Secondary Teacher Allocation Protocol (S–TAP).

Accordingly, PMO–RALG, through the GPE–TSP project, invites qualified Tanzanians to submit applications for one thousand five hundred (1,500) volunteer teaching positions, as detailed in this announcement. These positions target teachers in Science and Technology (STEM) subjects, Vocational Subjects, and Business Studies.

The general duties of volunteer teachers, applicant qualifications, and the number of available positions are outlined below:


1.0 General Duties of a Volunteer Teacher

i. Prepare work plans, lesson preparations, lesson notes, and a work plan for other assigned duties;
ii. Prepare and improvise teaching and learning materials;
iii. Teach, conduct assessments, and keep records of students’ academic progress;
iv. Supervise and monitor students’ attendance at school and in class;
v. Oversee students’ intellectual, physical, and spiritual development, and provide guidance and counselling;
vi. Provide professional and academic advice on education development;
vii. Supervise and ensure proper care and management of school equipment and property;
viii. Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of School in line with school responsibilities.


1.1 Qualifications for a Volunteer Physics Teacher – 504 Positions

i. A Bachelor with Education or Bachelor of Education degree with Physics as a teaching subject from Government-recognized higher learning institutions; or
ii. A non-education Bachelor’s degree with Physics as a teaching subject, plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, from Government-recognized higher learning institutions; or
iii. A Diploma in Education with Physics as a teaching subject from Government-recognized teacher training colleges.
