UNHCR Hiring Senior Protection Assistant
The Senior Protection Assistant normally reports to a more senior Protection colleague. The incumbent monitors protection standards, operational procedures and practices in protection delivery in line with international standards and provides functional protection support to information management and programme staff.In addition to identifying possibilities to mainstream protection procedures and safeguards in operational responses, the Senior Protection Assistant offers persons of concern (PoC) high-quality, timely, and effective protection support. As directed by the supervisor, s/he assists in creating a thorough protection plan and may communicate externally on protection-related matters with partners and local authorities.
Involving PoC in choices that impact them, such as gaining access to their rights or choosing the best course of action to address their issues, is another responsibility of the Senior Protection Assistant. Building and maintaining strong interfaces with communities of concern, local authorities, and protection and support partners will be necessary for the incumbent to accomplish this.

Responsibilities
Apply national and international law, as well as any relevant IASC, UN, and UNHCR policies, standards, and conduct codes, consistently.
Counsel PoC on matters of protection; coordinate with appropriate authorities to guarantee the issuance of personal and other pertinent papers.
Assist implementing and operational partners with protection-related AGD-based programming.
In order to assist eligibility, status determination, lasting solutions, and social needs assessment, conduct preliminary information gathering and interviews.
As part of the protection strategy, make a contribution to a child protection plan at the national level.
Participate in a national PoC education plan as a component of the protection strategy.
Observe Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for every activity related to solutions and protection.
Take part in managing individual protection matters, such as those involving child protection and GBV.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Professional Work Experience
Years of Experience / Degree Level
G5 – 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1 year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher
