GCompris is a high quality educational software suite, including a large number of activities for children aged 2 to 10.

Some of the activities are game orientated, but nonetheless still educational.

Here is the list of activity categories with some examples:

• computer discovery: keyboard, mouse, touchscreen ...
• reading: letters, words, reading practice, typing text ...
• arithmetic: numbers, operations, table memory, enumeration, double entry table ...
• science: the canal lock, the water cycle, renewable energy ...
• geography: countries, regions, culture ...
• games: chess, memory, align 4, hangman, tic-tac-toe ...
• other: colors, shapes, Braille, learn to tell time ...

Currently GCompris offers more than 100 activities, and more are being developed. GCompris is free software, it means that you can adapt it to your own needs, improve it, and most importantly share it with children everywhere.

The GCompris project is hosted and developed by the KDE community.

Note: If your system doesn't have OpenGL 2 support or if it's not working properly, please use the entry GCompris (Safe Mode) in the start menu to launch GCompris with the software rendering mode which doesn't use OpenGL.

If you really need a version that runs on Windows XP, or if your system doesn't support the new version, you can use the last installer from the old GCompris 15.10.

Android

The version for Android is distributed in the Play Store.

We support both android 32bit and 64bit from the Play Store. The appropriate version is downloaded automatically depending on your Android operating system.

You can also directly download the apk from our website to install it manually on your device.

For devices running Android 2.3 to 4.0, the last compatible version is GCompris 0.81.

GNU/Linux

You can check if your distribution provides a package for the latest version of GCompris.

We also provide standalone packages for GNU/Linux. They should work on any recent distribution. System requirements: linux kernel 3.10, glibc 2.17, pulseaudio, gstreamer 1.0.
