ESS PEPMIS (Employee Self-Service – Public Employees Performance Management Information System) in Tanzania is a digital government platform used to manage and evaluate the performance of public servants, especially in the education sector. Through the Employee Self-Service (ESS) feature, teachers and other public employees can log into the system to update their personal information, prepare annual work plans, set measurable performance targets, and submit self-evaluations. The system allows employees to align their individual goals with institutional and national priorities while enabling supervisors such as Head Teachers and Ward Education Officers to review, assess, and approve performance reports online.

The main purpose of ESS PEPMIS is to improve accountability, transparency, and efficiency in public service. It helps track employee performance throughout the year, store records digitally, generate performance reports, and support decision-making regarding promotions, training, and career development.
