The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, has announced that a total of 246,197 students, including 114,102 girls and 132,095 boys, selected to join Form Five in 2026 are required to report to their schools between July 4, 2026, and July 31, 2026, as the first academic term will begin on July 6, 2026.

Prof. Shemdoe made the announcement on June 1, 2026, at the PMO-RALG Sub-Office conference hall in Magogoni, Dar es Salaam, while presenting information to the public regarding students selected to join Form Five and technical education colleges for the 2026 academic year.

A total of 172,114 students (69.9%), including 85,987 girls and 86,127 boys who qualified, have been selected to join Form Five in 856 government secondary schools, comprising 825 boarding schools, 25 day schools, and 6 mixed day-and-boarding schools,” Prof. Shemdoe explained.

He further stated that 74,083 students (30.1%), including 28,115 girls and 45,968 boys, have been selected to join technical colleges.

“Among them, 3,144 students, including 1,170 girls and 1,974 boys, have been selected to pursue various programs in four technical institutions: **Arusha Technical College (ATC), Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), and Water Management and Development Institute (WMDI),” he added.

Prof. Shemdoe emphasized that the selection process for Form Five and technical education colleges was conducted based on academic performance and available spaces in schools and institutions. Therefore, no requests for school transfers or changes of placement will be considered due to limited capacity.

He also expressed gratitude to the Sixth Phase Government led by Samia Suluhu Hassan for providing substantial funding used to build and improve educational infrastructure in Form Five schools and middle-level colleges, which will serve the 246,197 students selected to join Form Five and technical education institutions in 2026.
